What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use the Liao AI website, join the waitlist, buy a founder subscription, or use the Liao AI iPhone app and related services.

By purchasing or using Liao, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase or use the service.

Liao is a pre-release service

Liao is currently in development and the founder subscription is offered before the public iPhone app is available. Features, design, launch timing, supported devices, and AI providers may change as the product is developed.

We will use reasonable efforts to deliver the service, but we do not promise a specific release date or uninterrupted availability. We will communicate material launch updates using the email connected to your purchase or waitlist entry.

Founder subscription and renewal

The founder subscription costs US$99 per year, plus any tax shown at checkout. It renews automatically every year until cancelled. Your founder price remains US$99 per year while the same subscription stays active.

If you cancel, access continues until the end of the paid billing period unless applicable law requires otherwise. Cancelling and later subscribing again may mean the founder price is no longer available.

Website purchases are processed through RevenueCat Billing and Stripe. Future App Store purchases are processed by Apple and may be subject to Apple's separate billing and refund rules.

Claiming a website purchase

Keep your RevenueCat purchase email. When the iPhone app is ready, the redemption link in that email can attach the purchase to your Liao account. You may need to install the app and sign in before opening the link.

A founder subscription is for one person and may not be resold, transferred, shared between unrelated accounts, or used to provide a commercial service. If a redemption link expires, follow the instructions in the purchase email to request another link.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel a website subscription through the subscription-management link provided with your purchase. Cancel before the next renewal date to avoid the next annual charge.

Refund requests are considered in accordance with the checkout terms and applicable consumer law. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded. For purchase help, reply to your receipt or email raven@liaoai.app.

Fair use

The founder subscription is intended for normal, personal language-learning use. AI voice services have real processing costs, so unusually high, automated, shared, abusive, or commercial use may be rate-limited or suspended.

If a fair-use limit affects normal personal learning, we will make reasonable efforts to explain the limit and provide a practical path forward.

AI and language-learning limitations

Liao uses artificial intelligence and can make mistakes, misunderstand speech, give unnatural phrasing, or produce inaccurate or inappropriate responses. It is a practice tool, not a substitute for a qualified teacher, translator, medical professional, lawyer, or other expert.

You are responsible for deciding whether to rely on any response and should verify information before using it in an important situation.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse Liao, interfere with the service, bypass usage limits, attempt to access another person's account or purchase, reverse engineer protected parts of the service, use automated systems to extract content, or use Liao in a way that is unlawful or harms others.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, our providers, or the public.

Your content and Liao content

You keep ownership of content you provide. You give us the limited permission needed to process that content, operate Liao, provide support, prevent abuse, and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy.

Liao's software, visual design, branding, and original materials are owned by Liao AI or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable right to use the service; they do not transfer ownership.

Service changes and ending access

We may update, replace, or remove features as Liao develops. If we permanently discontinue the paid service before providing meaningful access, we will address affected prepaid purchases in a way consistent with applicable law.

We may end access for a material breach of these terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Liao is provided on an “as available” basis without warranties that it will always be accurate, secure, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Liao AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from the service. These limits do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited, including mandatory consumer guarantees.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service develops. If a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Liao after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
