Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy explains how Liao AI handles information from the website, waitlist, founder checkout, and future iPhone app. The app is still in development, so we will update this policy before launch if its data practices materially change.

Information you provide

The waitlist may collect your name, email address, Mandarin level, learning goals, and consent choices through Tally.

A founder purchase may collect your email, billing country or address when required, subscription status, purchase identifiers, and support communications through RevenueCat and Stripe. Liao AI does not receive your full card number.

When accounts become available, Liao may receive an account identifier from Supabase authentication and information you choose to add to your profile.

Website and analytics information

We use PostHog to understand visits, button clicks, form views, and basic device or browser information. IP anonymisation is enabled for the landing page. We use this information to improve the site and understand interest in Liao.

Our hosting and security providers may process ordinary network logs needed to deliver and protect the website.

Conversation and voice data

Liao is being designed not to save raw microphone audio as a user recording library. Speech still needs to be transmitted to service providers for speech recognition, conversation generation, and voice output.

Before the app launches, this policy will describe the final providers, processing locations, retention periods, and controls for transcripts, diagnostic data, and any optional conversation memory.

How information is used

• to operate the waitlist, checkout, subscriptions, and future app;
• to match a website purchase to the correct Liao account;
• to send receipts, redemption instructions, launch updates, and requested support;
• to understand product usage and improve reliability and design;
• to prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
• to comply with legal and accounting obligations.

Service providers

We share information only as needed with providers that help operate Liao. Current website providers include Tally for the waitlist, PostHog for analytics, RevenueCat for subscription management and redemption, Stripe for payment processing, and Cloudflare/OpenAI Sites for hosting and delivery.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Apple will also process information under Apple's policies when the iPhone app and App Store purchases become available.

Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. Waitlist information is retained until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, unless we need to keep a record of consent. Purchase and transaction records may be kept longer for subscription support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, and legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from launch emails using the link in an email. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to certain processing.

Email raven@liaoai.app to make a privacy request. If the request concerns a purchase, you can also reply to your RevenueCat or Stripe receipt so we can identify the correct record. We may need to verify the request before acting.

International processing and security

Providers may process information in countries other than your own. We choose established providers and use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, or highly sensitive personal information through the waitlist or ordinary support messages.

Children

Liao is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and remove it where required.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Liao develops. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, communicated by email. Questions can be sent to raven@liaoai.app; purchasers can also reply to their RevenueCat or Stripe receipt.
